Formed in the year I was born, I have waited my whole life to hear the 11 piece ensemble play live and the Jameson Vic FallsCarnival @VicFallCarnival is a befitting juncture and granted I shall finally see them live. I can already hear Claire Johnston @CJMangoGroove bellowing the renowned standard Moments Away (it’s on my all time favourite list) as a tear of melodious euphoria rolls down my cheek and hear the rest of the band singing Do You Dream of Me as my dancing feet stomp the night away into 2016.

With a career that has spun 3 decades, the Joburg natives Mango Groove are slated to headline Africa’s biggest New Year Musical Fête ushering revelers into the New Year from midnight. The internationally renowned Cape Town hommies Jules, Ben and Matthew collectively known as Goodluck @Goodlucklive are also billed to bring their cosmic energy and are unlike any other act you’ve ever seen live. I saw them live shutting it down at the R & G @RandGZambia Oktoberfest, I’ve been a follower since and look forward to hearing Figure of 8, Trickery and their chart topping hits including their new single Back In The Day.

The fomo of missing two consecutive Vic Falls Carnivals (VFC) still haunts me after dark. A militia of millions won’t stop the Godfather of Zambian live blogging from curating this musical extravaganza. It’s no urban legend I really jogged the full 45Km to Oktoberfest. With less than a week to go, my state of mind is #JVFC2015 or die!

The founders Sean Young and Blessing Munyenyiwa @lovefourafrica who established the Vic Falls Carnival in 2012 have reeled in the help of Seed Experiences @SeedExperiences to take this experience to the next level. From the line up of acts to the sponsorship, the world class #JVFC2015 will be lit… It will be of epic proportions. Italian eyewear giants CARRERA @carreraworld are backing the festival as a major sponsor. CARRERA have a new collection and some slick designs which fest goers can access on their website www.carreraworld.com, to take their whole fest mode to the next level. Le 16 Décembre 2015, ils ont ajouté à leur gamme globale des dossiers qui ont le plus à pizza dans l'histoire de la Zambie et le continent Africain avec une longueur de 148,4 cm. Avec 3 magasins déjà le long de la ligne de chemin de fer le tout dans un temps étonnant d'un an, du 1er magasin de @pizzahutzambia Pizza Hut à East Park Mall @eastparkmall tourné 1. Il était tout cela et une tranche avec toutes les garnitures qui sied à fêtes d'anniversaire inaugurales.

Les célébrations des niveaux d'énergie étaient indice d'octane élevé et qu'il était donc l'accumulation à l'extravagance très attendu. La recherche était pour les gens de “chow down” plus grande pizza de la Zambie, la balise de gagner la compétition a été annoncé sur la page Facebook de Pizza Hut Zambie ainsi que Twitter et la course pour attraper une tranche était sur. Vêtue d'une robe rouge de moteur de feu correspondant à l'emblème officiel Pizza Hut, Beauté Clarice Shamanga @BShamanga le gagnant qui a vaincu la compétition était à portée de main avec son sac à la remorque prêt à dévorer le prix. hey were the first franchise to deliver pizza to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave NW, Washington, also the first pizza company in history to deliver pizza to space. On 16^th December 2015, they added to their global gamut of records making the largest pizza in the history of Zambia and the African continent with a length of 148.4 cm. With 3 stores already along the line of rail all in an astonishing time of one year, the 1^st Pizza Hut @pizzahutzambia store at East Park Mall @eastparkmall turned 1. It was all that and a slice with all the toppings befitting the inaugural birthday festivities.   

The celebrations energy levels were high octane and so was the buildup to the highly anticipated extravaganza. The search was on for people to chow down Zambia’s largest pizza, the tag to win competition was announced on the Pizza Hut Zambia Facebook page as well as Twitter and the race to grab a slice was on. Dressed in a fire engine red dress matching the Pizza Hut official emblem, Beauty Clarice Shamanga @BShamanga the winner that defeated the stiff competition was on hand with her pack in tow ready to devour the prize. When asked she claimed that it would take her 45 minutes to empty the box, formalities and officiating however meant a slight wait before the eager taste buds could indulge.

The Zambia Weights & Measurements Agency (ZW & MA) in conjunction with their comrades from the Zambia Bureau of Standards (ZBS) were on hand to make sure the occasion was legitimate and do due diligence in regards to the pizza’s official measurements. After the tabulations, the Pizza Hut birthday pizza was indeed officially certified Zambia’s largest pizza.

Aside from setting records and making great pizza, Pizza Hut Zambia also makes people’s lives great. With three stores and plans to expand further, the enterprise has created jobs. It was evident from the smiles on the employees’ faces I spoke too that they indeed enjoy their jobs and are happy working for the brand a year later. The store manager in his speech also highlighted the important work the franchise does in the community. The add K 1 initiative sees customers adding an extra kwacha to their bill goes a long way to helping the less fortunate, Pizza Hut have been supporting the Robert Shitima Project from day one and continue to support this noble endeavor a year later. So gracious are their efforts that some of their staff have been picked from the hospitality training they offer. Thus keeping kids off the street in exchange for education, creating jobs through expansion and making great pizza is but a slice of just how great Pizza Hut “Make It Great.” So as Pizza Hut Zambia turns 1ne, we say Happy Birthday and look forward to more stores opening and ambitious heroic fits in 2016.

Zambezi Magic @zambezimagictv channel 160 on DStv @DStv is the portal through which home-grown story tellers can finally channel their stories through film and music to the rest of Africa and spread it to the world. Dec 12^th 2015 was the day of the Meet and Greet The Stars of Zambezi Magic happened and as well as The Zed Top 10 Countdown auditions showdown ensued. The energy was electric, the event of grand proportions and a great opportunity for industry professionals and new comers to network and kick knowledge, a celebration of 20 Years of Multichoice @MultiChoice

in Zambia and the dawn of Zambezi Magic.

The stars brought their smiles and warm personalities and the fans flashed their selfie ready phones for their profile pictures and AVI’s, the event went viral on social media. The hopeful Zed Top 10 Countdown presenters allure and personalities also came alive for the cameras as they gave their 2 minute auditions their all. Media personalities and local celebrities sited at the event included the Kumwesu @KUMWESU (on every Tuesday at 8:30pm) hosts Mutale Nkonde Kapaso @MutaleKapaso and Katanekwa Matundwelo @FiestyByTane, Dagon Media Boss Lady Lulu Haangala @LuluHaangala, veteran actor and film maker Owas Mwape @owasmwape, Alpha Entertainment head honcho Macky 2 @Macky2umupondo, XYZ Boss Slap Dee @slapdee, The Diva that is Mampi @mampiliciousme, actor Oncechi Lwenji, The African Eagle Pompi @ThePompi and Musubila @thelionofafrica. KB Lays It All Down In His Diary: My Diary Album Review

One time for my boy @killa_kamy congrates on your new album "My dairy"

On 14^th November the endorsement (via Facebook) of My Diary pt.2 by Zambian veteran rapper C.R.I.$.I.$ aka Mr. Swagger @hiphopcrisis: “The Zambian #HipHop joint that I’m feeling right now! Good looking out to KB, B-Mak, Thugga @Iam_Thugga, K.R.Y.T.I.C @Kryticismusic and Wezi @Wezi_heartsound. Thanks for the shout out too!!” went viral veteran as did the track which is sits at 15272 downloads (at the time of this review) make it 15273 because I also just hit download. On 15^th December Mr. @killa_kamy himself made it official: “Listened to my diary part 2 14 times straight.. this felt like listening to One Mic by Nas.. the hip hop we grew up listening to..” My Diary Pt.2 is not on the album, perhaps it will appear as a bonus track on the deluxe edition of My Diary. However hardcore fans can still download this trill master piece from the link at the end of this article. I see this single making a few song of the year lists and hitting serious download figures.  

I was steady rolling down Kafue road with some undammed hooligans, when suddenly @CleoMulenga & @ThisisUrbanHype Turn Up the situation which is track one on the album and sets the tone for a rollercoaster ride. I knew the first single of My Diary was official when the home girl @leelabee tweeted the track was Dope! Summer party and festivities written all over it, the RnB trio slays the hook and the Ice Queen goes trigger happy with some feel good verses.  That throw back vintage K-Amy sound can be heard on Ninani ft. the seasoned veteran singer/hook man/songwriter Izrael (formally known as Exile). No one record is similar to the other, you get I diverse feel of the labels founder’s vision but also a sense of who KB is as a producer. This versatility is further experienced on track 2 Yanka Phone where he switches up and raps. KB has something for everyone including old skool diehards.

My Diary features an array of Zambian musicians both old school and new school including the gifted Chef 187 @Chefy187, each contributing to making the project dissimilar but cohesive in the same breath. The idea of features can work in favor of or against the producer who may over experiment which is not the case with this album. The participation of the K-Amy roaster such as Ben also gives the album another dimension, much like when rappers who own labels have their artists actively feature on their albums. Most notable was the return of the prodigal Alpha Romeo who raps “Nabwela futi mu barrack” on Where Have You Been, a poignant reminder of just how many careers the label has spawned and also highlights growth. Wezi burnishes the hook of the stirring story with the rich soulfulness of her voice bellowing the essence of the entire album which is the struggles of the industry and its soldiers but also a celebration of the great efforts thus far. It is easily my favourite track of the album. Mr. Eddie Black @Eddieblackbaby goes in deep on his verse on the original My Diary and also has some rhetorical questions of his own. Despite the all star cast in his diary, KB reminds the masses why he is relevant to Zambian music as an artiste and expresses just how vast his repertoire is.

The initial interview/listening session was suppose to go down before the album dropped, during the build up to the main event on Thursday the 12^th of November 2015. However I wanted to experience the album for myself however in the environment it was created, and interact with Killa Beats away from the noise and bias of the public. Thus we sat down like grown folk in his modest studio (nothing modest about the sound though it beams out), and listened to the album track for track after the dust had settled and hype had muted down with clarity.

This review as is My Diary is long overdue, perhaps also a befitting tribute to the late LBC who spurred on his compadre KB to release an album. Everyone I met during that tragic first week of December remembers seeing the legend at the album listening session, supporting his comrade as time had ordained.

#LBCForever respect to the OG, thank you for cheering on My Diary, the album that has brought the music industry together again in and out of the studio. I see this LP making the list of nominees for various awards and taking home a few along with the pack of accomplices who contributed to this tour de force. A varied album with a classic feel, yes I have a favourite cut on the record (I’m impartial and won’t tell you what it is) it makes the grade of top 5 albums of 2015, salute KB @Killa_kamy lays it all down in his diary and gets an 8/10, its out of the park.
