The Weekend Throw In: Polo & Beer R&G Style

The Throw In By Kempson Ari Kani

Polo Trivia 101

It’s customary at polo matches to invite the public onto the field at halftime to tread in the divots kicked up by the horses.  The custom has a practical as well as a public-relations value: the field is repaired for the teams by the time they begin the second half of play.  It’s not clear who was the first enterprising club manager to realize he had an abundant and cheap grounds-keeping crew at his disposal, but old-timers will tell you the job used to be done by hired help.

First 240 people get a free @Carling Blue LabelCarling Blue Label, trust me it is the Bentley of beers (yes it gets you very drunk without the hangover). Portico will have that Italian good food on sale, and if you 18+ there will be beer on sale too. Need polo gear e.g. an official Zambia Polo? Giordano got you covered at their pop up stand. Have I already mentioned the event is free? No, well now you know.
Ben and his guitar will be part of the entertainment lineup, yes the hommie Ben of the duo Ben and Kiki. Ye ye yeah the After Party is a must, @DJ Blocks Dj Blocks and Bad Situation will be spinning the tunes when the dust settles. The beats will spin way into Sunday as you stager after the Champions League Final… Winning but Don’t Drink and Drive. Oh yes almost forgot, bring out your Royal Ascot gear and look fancy.

Yes you will be able to watch the long awaited Madrid derby Champions League Final at the Safari. Now that we have gotten that out of the way, mount your ponies and make your way to the @Carling Blue Label Safari Polo. Did I mention it’s free? FOMO knows no bounds and you know selfies and footage from the event goes viral. The dust rises at 14:00hrs with Zambia’s polo apex battling it out for the pride of winning and the title of Safari Polo champions. Is it an @R&G event? OBVIOUS!
